PANASONIC + LEICA and SIGMA Astonishing Announcements !!!

In an extraordinary two hours Panasonic Leica and Sigma have shaken up the photographic industry.
Key announcements:-

  • L Mount 'Alliance' between Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. A shared mount, shared R & D and compatibility between cameras.
  • Panasonic announce two 'full-frame' mirrorless cameras. 47 and 24MP. VERY professionally orientated.
  • New Lumix ' Leica m4/3 lens - 10-22mm f/1.7
  • Panasonic announce world wide pro network - similar to Canon and Nikon
This is nothing less than an attempt to seize the professional / serious enthusiast / high end mirrorless market. Nikon and Canon's attempts at FFMC have been put in perspective by this. As have Sony's efforts up to now. It shows serious intent by all three companies, with Panasonic at the forefront, to become the leading players in this market. And it's obvious that they want to attract professional users as well. Now that might take a few years, but their plan is clear. The specs of the new cameras have obviously been tailored to answer all the criticisms of the Nikon Z's, the Canon EOS R and of course Sony, who up to now have had the market to themselves.

I don't know about anybody else, but I find all of this exactly what I've been looking for. I will certainly be getting the 47MP Panasonic FF camera when it's available and will be very interested to see what Leica and Sigma come up with. There will obviously be more on this in the next few days as more details emerge.
