So how did I end up with this? And keep going on about how good it is. And why did I sell the Leica M9 and my Nikons?? - Part 1

Well lets get the Leica out of the way. I wrote recently that it was economically a disaster. Taking pictures with it didn't get me more sales, and when I worked out how much I'd spent on it and the lenses I use with it, the cost was about £1 every time I pressed the shutter. This was clearly ridiculous, and no matter how much I liked it (and I liked it a lot) it was going to have to earn its keep or else I'd sell it.

After thinking long and hard, I realised that I wouldn't be using it as much as I needed to get it to "earn its keep". No macro, no telephoto, no zoom, no AF and all those dust spots to constantly remove. I reluctantly decided to sell it, did so, and with my tax allowances, just about broke even. Its been a privilege to own a Leica, and I'm not ruling out buying another in the future, but I've freed up some of my equipment capital to try some other things out. I did feel a tinge of sadness when it went, but then its just another camera. (And if you believe that you'll believe anything!!)

Part Two tomorrow.
