Why do I use an iphone for my library work.

As long time readers will know, I make my living from shooting and selling stock library images. Below are some samples of what I take shot on iphones.

All of the above were shot in the past couple of weeks. So the reasons are -

  • The weight and size are much easier on my back, which has become painful after years of carrying around heavy camera systems.
  • When you compare ny iPHONE 17 Pro Max to the cost of a similar camera / lens combination the iPHONE has a serious cost benefit.
  • Few people take any notice of me when I use my iPHONE, since I'm just like everybody else.
  • Apple have now got their 48MP images to an incredible quality level.
  • This even includes some great results in low light.
  • The images off the phone are very flexible for editing in photoshop. I can make some serious adjustments without any break up of the image.
  • I mainly shoot outdoors in good light and the depth of field I can get with the small sensor is very useful for what I do.
  • I actually love the look of the images. After I have edited them I can achieve an 'almost film' look and certainly a comparable result to a DSLR or mirrorless camera.
  • All the developments in photographic technology seems to be mainly concentrated on smartphones. The developments in the last couple of years are simply amazing.
  • I actually enjoy shooting on my iPHONE 17 Pro Max more than my 'proper' cameras. It is more fun.
  • Some picture libraries that previously refused my smartphone images now accept them no problem.
