The Monochrom SP - Leica announce 24MP APS-C sensor clip on camera for Smartphones






In a surprise announcement today Leica have announced the Monochrom SP. A clip on camera that fits on the front of an existing smartphone. The Monochrom SP is a 2mm thick magnetised attachment that contains a 24MP APS-C Black and White sensor and a 23mm f/1.4 lens. Controlled by the Monochrom SP app (available for Android and iPhone) the camera attachment has the highest resolution imaging sensor ever seen on a smartphone. Leica claim that this attachment delivers astonishing image quality while still retaining the ease of use of a mobile device. Leica have used a unique and specially manufactured titanium alloy in it's construction, to house the large sensor. 

Leica have also announced that in the future there will be Safari, Seal, Nikki Sixx and Steve Huff special editions. Both the camera and the app. will be available from today - April 1st from 12PM onwards (GMT) RRP is €4999.95 + VAT.
