Photographic internet chatter.

Dpreview talk with Canon engineers: “expect big things

'I hope they are working hard to improve their sensor and processing technology too!'

'Canon hasn't suprised (sic) or astonished anyone is (sic) like 20 years. I'm sorry but I don't expect big things.....maybe some cool lenses. But seriously.....prove me wrong Canon.'

'With "expect big things", they mean big, oversized, unnecessarily bulky things.'

'Or EF, which is on a path to being a second class citizen.'

'Big things? I thought mirrorless was all about making things smaller? What should we expect Canon? A 400mm f/2,8?'

'Big things - like a 400mm f/2,8? That balances so well on a mirrorless camera .. :p'

'Dear Canon, I just espect (sic) a decent FF camera for around 1700-1800 Euros, with IBIS, weather sealing, 2 cards, colour fidelity, long battery and good DR. And no focus by wire lenses. Don't really care about 4K video.'

'They've been surprising everyone with how disappointing their cameras have been for quite a while now. I don't expect this to change.'

Above is a post on a mirrorless forum, about the Canon EOS R and 'highlights' from the comments section. Now this is polite compared to some, but shows the kind of level of 'debate' that exists on the photographic internet. It's clear that none of the above have used, bought or even handled the camera.

I got a reputation for criticising Sony cameras. I had however bought and used several of them.
