Is it possible to buy a great lens for £34.99?

In the Philip Bloom review of the Metabones Speed Booster I posted a link to yesterday, one of the reviewers mentioned the Series E Nikon 50mm f/1.8. I had a look on ebay and saw this. At £34.99 I decided it was worth the risk, so I bought it.

It arrived today. Its old, and its seen some use. The aperture ring is so worn that its almost stepless. However the optics seem to be in good condition, so I tried it on my Fuji X-E1 and Panasonic cameras via the Speed Booster. There's a somewhat odd blue tinged colour cast, but it does take a great picture. So via my speed booster I've got a pancake f/1.2 50mm lens. Not bad for £34.99. I'll take some 'proper' pictures with it and report back.
