SOUNDIMAGEPLUS: Autofocus is for wimps!

Looking round the photographic internet the other day, I found several reviews and announcements about the Metabones Speed Booster. There were lots of comments like 'Its not for me' 'More useful for Video' 'I'm happy with what I've got' However reading between the lines I could see the truth. All they were saying was 'I DON'T LIKE MANUAL FOCUS' And its obvious why. Digital Photography has spawned a generation of pussies who think Face Recognition and Scene Modes are important features in a camera and who wouldn't take a picture unless at least three kinds of stabilisation are in operation. Wimps!

Don't these people know anything? Those of us who cut our teeth manually focusing a 400mm f/5.6 in a gale, without the assistance of EVF's, magnification and focus peaking I might add, can only sneer at these pathetic excuses for photographers, whose only skill is the ability to upload a picture of their feet to Facebook while binge drinking.

Anyone who has watched news footage from the 1960's of press photographers in a scrum around a politician or celebrity, manually focusing a lens while being jostled from every direction can only have the greatest respect for these giants of the visual arts, who needed nothing more than three Nikon bodies and a bag full of lenses to 'get the shot'. In the film 'Under Fire' Nick Nolte kneels down to manually focus his lens as a fighter plane fires bullets straight at him. Now that's what I'm talking about!
