I did a couple of sessions for an agency that specialised in gymnasts / acrobats / circus performers. The group above used to do corporate events for companies like Microsoft and the brief was to photograph them as if they were on a stage. A bit of reorganisation turned part of their offices into a space big enough for them to put some of their routines together. As you can see from the picture above they were pretty impressive.
However my favourite picture from the session was at the request of the two performers at the bottom of the "construction" They asked me, in a period when I was waiting for people to be ready, to take a picture of their son. However this wasn't a run of the mill child portrait as you can see from the image below.
It is one of all-time favourite pictures and as you can see junior seems to have inherited his parents genes as he looks pretty relaxed being held up by his dad.
It wasn't a picture that got used on the agencies website, or indeed for any kind of publicity but it always brings a smile to my face whenever I see it. Not something I would suggest to most parents as a way of producing something different for the family album, and dad actually tweaked a muscle doing it and had to do the rest of the session on pain killers. So, I recommend that you don't try this at home!
