More film scans

Some of the problems I mentioned yesterday about film scans are starting to surface. I've started uploading them to picture libraries and some (though not all) are being rejected because of "noise". It isn't noise, its film grain. All film scans show grain to a certain extent, and the larger the scan the more it shows. I've had to reduce the images to around 17MB, or the equivalent of 6MP to get them accepted at certain libraries, which prevents them being used for large scale reproduction, which they are perfectly capable of. Indeed many have already been reproduced in magazines and books at these sizes.

Though I've no intention of ever going back to it, I do love the look of film, and to a certain extent digital capture for the most part is bland by comparison. If anyone wonders why my landscape images look like they do, this is why. I'm constantly trying to get my digital images to look like these Fuji Velvia film images.

Finally, I should add that looking at these images has got me interested in the Pentax 645D again. This is not good!!
