I'm no fan of Halloween, using gruesome props to exploit children is not my idea of an event worthy of celebration. However, being charitable, I guess it could fulfill the same function as fairy tales and prepare them for the end of their sheltered world. Whatever the merits (or otherwise) of what happens on the 31st.
